Chief of Staff of Argentina, Manuel Adorni, is once again at the center of a storm, this time over reports suggesting he may have traveled to Hawaii on a private flight. This news broke on the same day the government confirmed the minister would not hold a press conference on Wednesday. Two news channels reported on the possibility of Adorni's trip to Hawaii, similar to his flight to Punta del Este. Federal Prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita has launched an investigation to unravel the financial engineering behind the Chief of Staff's recent acquisitions. The prosecutor has called notary Adriana Mónica Nechevenko to give a testimony. Nechevenko was the notary who certified the purchase of the apartment in the Caballito neighborhood. According to public records, Adorni bought the property for a total of $230,000. For investigators, this 'generosity' between strangers in a cash foreign currency transaction is, at the very least, an indicator that warrants further investigation. Amidst the case, the ruling party decided not to expose the minister to another press conference, following the controversy last week when he had a tense exchange with several reporters who questioned him and did not provide many details about the facts against him.
